The “Single Focus” Child Custody Evaluation

The “Basic” Child Custody Evaluation entails a thorough interview of all family members (individually), observation of each adult-child dyad, an abbreviated battery of psychological testing and a limited review of information from collateral sources.  This evaluation provides detailed recommendations about custodial structure and Parenting Time in cases in which disputes are narrow in scope and are “relatively” benign.  Disputes in which conflict is significantly focused on allegations of child abuse, domestic violence, active substance abuse, mental illness, or parental alienation or in which relocation is posed by one party are not suitable for this process.
