Family Therapy

At Meridian Psychological Associates, we understand that some forms of family conflict are inevitable and to be expected.  However, when repetitive patterns of familial strife result in psychological difficulties of its members, family therapy is a particularly beneficial mode of treatment.  Family therapy operates from a perspective that each member of a family is interrelated, so that change in individual family members influences the entire family process.  Within family therapy, all members of the family unit are invited to explore, understand, and change those dynamics that are problematic and/or impede the development of its members.  Family therapists often address multigenerational histories of interpersonal functioning, including communication patterns, family roles and structure, and those emotions, beliefs, and meanings that influence the family as a whole.
